Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has revealed that Liverpool have previously expressed an interest in his signature.
Having helped Leicester City win the Premier League in 2016, Mahrez attracted widespread attention in his signature before eventually remaining at the King Power Stadium.
Despite joining Man City two years later, the Algerian has suggested that his career could have taken a different path had Liverpool not signed Mohamed Salah.
Speaking to beIN Sports on Instagram, Mahrez said: "Before signing for Manchester City, there was interest from Liverpool in me, but as soon as they took Mohamed Salah, it was finished."
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a successful period at the Etihad Stadium, contributing 21 goals and 26 assists from his 81 appearances in all competitions.
