Man United injury, suspension news vs. Newcastle: Red Devils suffer fresh blow as key duo are ruled out

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Manchester United will be aiming to avoid a fourth straight defeat in all competitions when they welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Monday night.

The Red Devils suffered a 2-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day, and Ruben Amorim's side are now 14th in the Premier League table, only picking up 22 points from their first 18 matches of the campaign.

Man United will end 2024 with a contest against Newcastle, before tackling Liverpool and Arsenal away from home in the league and FA Cup respectively in their first two matches of 2025.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man United's injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Newcastle, who are currently fifth in the table, picking up 29 points from their opening 18 matches of the season.

Shaw has only just worked his way back from a calf issue, but the England international has now picked up a hamstring problem and is set to be sidelined for several weeks; the defender has opened up on his devastation at his ongoing injury issues, but Amorim has promised to continue backing him.

Mount was again absent against Wolves due to the problem which forced him off the field against Manchester City in the Manchester derby, and the Englishman is now facing "several weeks" out of action, as confirmed by head coach Amorim after the defeat to Tottenham.

Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes will be unavailable for selection against Newcastle due to the red card that the Man United captain picked up in the early stages of the second period against Wolves on Thursday evening.
