Crystal Palace vs. Southampton: Predicted XI for the Eagles in Premier League clash

Will Glasner make changes? How Palace could line up against Southampton

Sports Mole looks at how Crystal Palace could line up in Sunday's Premier League clash with Southampton.

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner may make just the two changes to his starting side for Sunday's Premier League battle with basement side Southampton.

The Eagles remain without the services of Matheus Franca, Adam Wharton and Franco Umeh-Chibueze for their final contest of 2024, while Will Hughes is a doubt due to the issue which forced him off in the early stages of the second period against Bournemouth.

Should Hughes be ruled out, then it is likely that Cheick Doucoure will be introduced into the XI, while Chris Richards is in line to replace the suspended Marc Guehi, but it might otherwise be the same side that picked up a welcome point in a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth.

Ismaila Sarr, Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta are set to continue in the final third of the field for the hosts, while Daniel Munoz and Tyrick Mitchell are the first-choice wing-backs in a 3-4-3 formation.

Mateta has again been Palace's main source of goals this season, coming up seven in 22 appearances in all competitions, while Sarr and Eze have four each, and Glasner will be looking to the front three to cause damage to Southampton.

Guehi's long-term future at the club remains the subject of speculation, with a number of clubs said to be keen on the Englishman, and he will be a major absentee for the home side through suspension this weekend.

Crystal Palace possible starting lineup: Henderson; Chalobah, Lacroix, Richards; Munoz, Doucoure, Lerma, Mitchell; Sarr, Mateta, Eze
