Brendan Rodgers: 'Liverpool need a new goalkeeper'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that he needs a new goalkeeper with Brad Jones still out injured.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that the club need to sign a new goalkeeper, with Brad Jones still out injured.

Jones has been out since suffering a thigh injury on Boxing Day in the win at Burnley while his rival for the number one shirt, Simon Mignolet, was dropped earlier in the season for poor form.

This has led to speculation that the Reds could sign a new keeper this month, and Rodgers has confirmed that he will be assessing the situation.

"We need a goalkeeper, it just depends on how long Brad Jones is going to be out," he told reporters.

"We are obviously down and have got two young, inexperienced keepers behind Simon, who is only just back in the team, so we need to assess that."

Liverpool travel to face Sunderland tomorrow.
