Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri says that he joined the club to win major trophies and 'dreams' of finishing top of the Premier League next season.

Xherdan Shaqiri has suggested that he is not interested in a move away from Liverpool as he 'dreams' of winning the Premier League title with the Merseyside outfit.

The Switzerland international proved to be a valuable squad player during his debut campaign at Anfield, featuring 30 times in all competitions.

A lack of minutes in the business end of the campaign led to suggestions that Shaqiri was on the lookout for a new club, however, with his only 90-minute outing in the second half of the season coming in the 4-0 win against Barcelona.

After playing a part in Liverpool's Champions League triumph, though, the 27-year-old is ready to go again next season.

"Is this why I came to Liverpool? Yes," he told reporters. "This club needs to win titles, and it's a good start to win this one, no? Now next year we are going to go again and try to win the Premier League. That's my big dream, to win the Premier League with this club.

"It just feels amazing. It's been a long time since Liverpool won this title, 2005. It's amazing to give the fans what they deserve. This club deserves everything, the staff, everyone involved. I think we're going to have a big, big party!

"Of course if we didn't win it, we'd have been very disappointed. We played such a good season, and we deserved to win at least one trophy.

"Now we won the biggest title in Europe, it's amazing. It doesn't happen every day. We are a very good team and we work hard together every day. I hope we can go on, this is just the start and we can win many more titles."

Liverpool paid £13m to sign Shaqiri from Stoke City in July 2018.
