Gylfi Sigurdsson in understood to be talking to Liverpool and other unnamed Premier League clubs as he looks to decide his future.
The Icelandic midfielder had agreed a £6.8m move to Swansea City from Hoffenheim earlier this summer, a club record fee for the Welsh side.
Events have moved on significantly since then, however, with Brendan Rodgers moving from the Liberty Stadium to become Liverpool manager.
Sky Sports News reports that Sigurdsson's representatives are in discussions with Liverpool over a transfer.
Rodgers had announced on Friday that he would not hijack any deal that had been put in place, but seems prepared to take action if the player is available.
Sigurdsson scored seven goals in a hugely successful loan spell at Swansea during the second half of last season.
