Liverpool are reportedly set to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong.
The 24-year-old has spent the past week on international duty with Netherlands, who were knocked out of the UEFA Nations League by Spain at the quarter-final stage.
Frimpong burst onto the world scene last season as part of an invincible Leverkusen outfit who smashed Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race.
Across all competitions, the exciting Dutchman bagged 14 goals and 10 assists, providing a constant threat from a wing-back position on the right flank.
Frimpong has continued his stellar form into the 2024-25 campaign for Xabi Alonso's men, scoring four times and setting up teammates on five occasions in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool to beat Real Madrid in Frimpong race?
According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid are set to drop out of the race for the services of the highly-rated Frimpong ahead of the summer window.
The report claims that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is happy to let the opportunity to sign the 24-year-old pass his club by during the off-season.
It is understood that the European champions are focused solely on the acquisition of Liverpool hero Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right flank.
There have also been questions in the Los Blancos camp over whether Frimpong could adapt to playing as part of a back four for Carlo Ancelotti's troops.
The Dutchman's preference was supposedly a switch to the Bernabeu, however Arne Slot's Reds are now in pole position for the capture of the wideman.

Anfield's full-back changes
While living legends such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk continue to thrive for Liverpool, those of a Reds persuasion in Merseyside could be waving goodbye to another famous duo.
Andy Robertson's influence on proceedings is waning as the Merseyside club target replacements, whilst Alexander-Arnold appears set for a Los Blancos switch.
As a result, Liverpool are smart to press on with the signing of Leverkusen hero Frimpong, who is one of football's best attacking full-backs.
