West Ham United open initial talks over a £15m move for out-of-favour Liverpool striker Divock Origi, according to a report.

West Ham United and Liverpool have entered discussions over a move for Divock Origi, according to a report.

The former Lille man was nothing more than a bit-part player under Jurgen Klopp last season, making 17 appearances in all competitions and scoring just one goal.

Liverpool could therefore elect to recoup a fee for Origi in the current transfer window, although their £20m asking price was thought to be putting potential suitors off.

However, Football Insider claims that West Ham have now opened preliminary talks to sign the 26-year-old after Liverpool reduced their asking price to £15m.

Origi penned a new five-year deal with the Reds after netting crucial goals en route to the 2018-19 Champions League crown, but he has since struggled to displace the likes of Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota in Klopp's lineup.

The Belgium international has made 157 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions since 2014, scoring 35 goals and setting up 14 more.
