Malaga win Mallorca thriller

Malaga move back into the Champions League places in the La Liga table with a 3-2 win at Mallorca.

Malaga have moved back into the Champions League places in the La Liga table with a 3-2 win at Mallorca.

Javier Saviola pounced in the area on 10 minutes to give the visitors the lead before Isco doubled their advantage six minutes later when he volleyed in Nacho Monreal's cross at the back post.

Mallorca made sure that they were still in the game before half time as Victor Casadesus struck to reduce the deficit.

However, Malaga made it 3-1 on the hour through Monreal's strike from the edge of the box.

Giovani dos Santos's free kick restored Mallorca's hope in the 70th minute before Martin Demichelis was shown a straight red card for Malaga for his foul on Javier Marquez.

Despite the numerical advantage, the home side were unable to find an equaliser.
