Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti plays down fears of an injury to Eduardo Camavinga ahead of the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Manchester City.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has offered a reassuring update on the condition of Eduardo Camavinga after the Frenchman went off injured in Saturday's La Liga win over Getafe.

The 20-year-old was one of just three Blancos players to retain their places in the first XI from Tuesday's Champions League meeting with Manchester City alongside Thibaut Courtois and Federico Valverde.

With Ferland Mendy returning at left-back, Camavinga shifted into a midfield role for the visit of Getafe, but he was brought off on the 84-minute mark after suffering a blow to the leg.

The former Rennes man grimaced as he sat down on the turf and was seen with an ice pack on his injury after being taken off, sparking fears over his fitness for the second leg of their semi-final with Man City.

However, Ancelotti affirmed after the game that Camavinga had only suffered a minor blow to the knee, and he is expecting the France international to be fit for the trip to the Etihad.

"It's just a blow and he will recover fast. Everyone should be ready to face Manchester City. Camavinga has a knock, but he should be fine," The Athletic quotes Ancelotti as saying.

"Yes, he had a small twist in his knee, but it's a blow, nothing more. Tomorrow he will rest, like the rest of those who have played.

"He has twisted his knee a little bit but he is stable. The most important thing is stability, 100%. Now the inside of his knee is bothering him a little bit, but it's nothing."

Camavinga is still expected to be sent for a scan on Sunday, but the versatile Frenchman will be expected to line up in Manchester if no serious injury is discovered.

The 20-year-old started at left-back in Tuesday's first leg with Man City and provided a sublime assist for Vinicius Junior's opener before Kevin De Bruyne's rocket levelled the scores.

Despite initially struggling for consistent starts in Ancelotti's XI this season, Camavinga has established himself as a regular fixture for Los Blancos and has two assists to his name from 53 games this season.

Mendy's own return from a calf injury would at least soften the blow of any layoff for Camavinga, while David Alaba and Nacho Fernandez are also capable of deputising at left-back for Real Madrid.

Ancelotti made a total of eight changes for the visit of Getafe, where a 70th-minute goal from Marco Asensio propelled Real Madrid to a slender 1-0 triumph at the Bernabeu, as Alaba, Karim Benzema and Rodrygo missed out altogether.

None of the trio are believed to be nursing anything serious, though, and Ancelotti should welcome all three back for Wednesday's game, where Dani Carvajal will also be back from a domestic ban.

Real's success on Saturday moved the La Liga holders onto 71 points from 34 games, but Barcelona will be crowned champions if they beat local rivals Espanyol on Sunday.
