Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne reveals that he sustained a hamstring injury in the Champions League final win over Inter Milan.

Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that a hamstring injury forced him off in Manchester City's Champions League final success against Inter Milan.

The Belgium international sustained an injury in the first half of the final, and although he initially tried to continue, he had to be replaced by Phil Foden in the 36th minute.

As a result, De Bruyne has now been forced off in consecutive Champions League final appearances after suffering a concussion in the 2020-21 final against Chelsea.

The West London club went on to win that contest, but fortunately for De Bruyne and Man City, they emerged victorious against Inter.

With just over 20 minutes, Rodri produced a precise finish to secure the Citizens their first Champions League trophy.

Speaking after the match, De Bruyne indicated that he has been struggling with a hamstring issue in the latter stages of the season.

"It has been a hard two months," De Bruyne told BT Sport. "I had a lot of problems with my hamstring and it snapped."

Despite having his evening cut short, the Belgian said that it was "amazing" to win the competition for the first time in his career.

"The team was good enough though and we won," the midfielder added. "We have been working so long for this, it is amazing.

"We have not lost in the Champions League this year. It was not the best game but now is the time to celebrate."

De Bruyne played a key role in Man City's Champions League success, scoring two goals and providing seven assists in 10 European appearances.

In total, De Bruyne has scored 10 goals and provided 31 assists in 49 competitive matches during the 2022-23 season.

Since joining Man City in 2015, the 31-year-old has won a Champions League, five league titles, two FA Cups, five EFL Cups and two Community Shields.
