Ederson believes Manchester City are "fully capable" of winning a historic treble this season, with the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup all within their sight.

Goalkeeper Ederson believes Manchester City are "fully capable" of winning a historic treble this season.

The Citizens are currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League, while they are also in the FA Cup quarter-finals and are comfortably boasting a 5-0 first-leg lead against Sporting Lisbon in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Speaking to the press ahead of Wednesday's second leg with the Portuguese outfit, Ederson believes City have shown in previous years that they have the credentials to win every piece of silverware on offer and feels they can challenge for all three remaining trophies this term despite the hectic fixture schedule.

"Definitely [City can win the treble]. We know how difficult it is. A season here in in England is very intense, especially around the Boxing Day period when there are a lot of games in a short space of time," the 28-year-old said on Tuesday.

"That is very demanding on the entire group. We know how difficult it is but we have the quality to do this. We've shown this previously and we're showing it at the moment. I think we're fully capable of meeting this achievement.

"There are challenges in every competition, but take it step by step and try to achieve great things in the future."

Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Benfica in 2017, Ederson has made 226 appearances for City across all competitions and has won 10 trophies, including three Premier League titles.

Pep Guardiola heads into their midweek fixture against Sporting with only 14 available players, after the Spanish boss revealed to the press that Joao Cancelo (illness) is one of six players who are to miss out, while Kevin De Bruyne is unlikely to start as he is just one booking away from a suspension.
