Roberto Mancini says that Manchester City will provide extra cover in order to stop Cristiano Ronaldo when they meet Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted that he is worried about the prospect of facing Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League.

The Premier League champions host Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday knowing that they must win the match to have any chance of making the knockout stages of the competition.

Mancini believes that the form of the Portugal captain will be a crucial factor in City's hunt for progression from the group stages of the tournament.

"A player that scores one or two goals a game is an incredible player," said Mancini. "That's why he'll get more attention.

"It is clear we should pay more attention in some situations but we should play our football."

City are currently bottom of Group D.
