Joao Cancelo has hailed Pep Guardiola as the best coach in world football ahead of Manchester City's meeting with Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Portuguese full-back moved to the Etihad from Juventus for a fee of £60m over the summer to provide competition for Kyle Walker this season, with Danilo heading in the other direction.

Cancelo's opportunities have been so far limited under the Catalan, making just two Premier League starts, but the 25-year-old is set to start against Atalanta as Walker continues to recover from a virus.

Speaking ahead of City's meeting with the Serie A side in Lombardy, Cancelo told The Mirror: "I came here to learn. Pep I think is the best manager in today's football.

"It's true it took me some time to learn, but what's important is that the club wins. I was happy to wait for my moment and when I finally had an opportunity to play, I did that and the team won."

City have enjoyed a perfect start to their European campaign this season, claiming comfortable victories over Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb.
