Manchester City are reportedly planning a special send-off match for club legend David Silva after seeing their initial plans ruined by the coronavirus outbreak.

Manchester City are reportedly planning to hold a special farewell game for departing club legend David Silva after the coronavirus outbreak threw their initial plans into disarray.

Silva confirmed last year that the 2019-20 campaign will be his last for Man City, bringing an end to an illustrious 10-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League champions had planned to pay tribute to the Spaniard during their final game of the season - against Norwich City on May 17 - but the campaign will now stretch beyond that date, with no guarantee that it will resume again before Silva's contract expires on June 30.

The 34-year-old could still stay beyond that date if the season is extended, but the Daily Mail reports that Man City will hold a one-off game in honour of one of their greatest ever players regardless.

The possibility of a testimonial similar to that given to Vincent Kompany last year is one option, although Silva himself has not requested a send-off match.

Silva, who has made 28 appearances for Man City this season and 424 in total, has been linked with a move to David Beckham's Inter Miami outfit when he leaves Pep Guardiola's side.
