Edin Dzeko hails Manchester City form after Newcastle United thrashing

Manchester City are nearing their title-winning form of last season, according to striker Edin Dzeko.

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has hinted that the team could be close to their form of last season after they beat Newcastle United 5-0 on Saturday.

The Premier League champions had failed to win in four games before they thrashed Stoke City and Newcastle in back-to-back games, and Dzeko has said that it feels like they are approaching the kind of form which saw them win the league last year.

He told reporters: "I think the first half was maybe one of the best this season. Recently maybe we didn't play the best football, didn't score so many goals, but in the last two games we scored nine and hopefully we are back to normality, like we played last season. We have to continue."

City next face Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
