Martin Keown praises "brave" Fabian Delph for joining Manchester City

Martin Keown calls Fabian Delph's decision to join Manchester City "brave", after the midfielder committed his future to Aston Villa under a week ago.

Former England defender Martin Keown has said that Fabian Delph should be praised for his "brave" decision to join Manchester City.

Delph signed for City from Aston Villa yesterday, despite committing his future to the Midlands club under a week ago.

Keown told PA: "People change their mind don't they? It is what happens - he wouldn't be the first person to turn down an opportunity, regretted it and then worked hard to change it and he has been brave enough to do that.

"It is a good signing for City - they want to buy British - he made his England debut last season and settled in well, he is a driving force from midfield, but it is a huge blow for Aston Villa."

Keown spent four years at Villa before joining Everton in 1989.
