Paul Lambert: "It is a big win"

Paul Lambert says that his Aston Villa team have made "one hell of a start" to the Premier League season following today's 3-2 victory over Manchester City.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has expressed his delight at today's 3-2 win over Manchester City.

Quick-fire goals from Leandro Bacuna and Andreas Weimann saw the Villans turn the game on its head at Villa Park after Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko had twice given the visitors the lead.

Lambert, who guided the Midlands outfit to an opening-day victory at Arsenal, said that he is delighted with the start that his team have made to the new season.

"They are one of the favourites to win the Premier League, and one of the teams that could win the Champions League," PA quotes the 44-year-old as saying.

"That shows the magnitude of this result. They might have rested a few for the Bayern [Munich] game but, if you look at the side, they were a lot of top players.

"It is a big win, three points for us. I am delighted to win. It has been one hell of a start but we have come through it and are playing with a lot of confidence."

Villa sit ninth in the table with three wins and three losses from their six games so far.
