England interim boss Stuart Pearce has hinted that Manchester City midfielder James Milner could captain England when they face Holland on Wednesday.
Pearce takes charge of the senior squad for the first time at Wembley, and must choose a new skipper after John Terry was relieved of his duties.
When asked about Milner, Pearce told The Mail on Sunday: "If ever I'm looking for an example in the Under-21s of someone who has led unselfishly, it's James.
"That is the model we are looking for. If you're asking me to put an example of a possible captain, an unselfish captain, that's why I'd use James."
Milner appeared 46 times for the England Under-21s.
