Manuel Pellegrini backs Joe Hart to hit best form

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini insists that he trusts Joe Hart following the goalkeeper's mistake on international duty earlier this week.

Manuel Pellegrini has backed Joe Hart to prove that he is still England's best goalkeeper by finding his best form for Manchester City.

A mistake from Hart gifted a goal to Scotland in England's 3-2 victory at Wembley on Wednesday evening, leading Roy Hodgson to warn the goalkeeper about competition for his spot.

However, Pellegrini has responded by announcing his trust in the 26-year-old.

"I haven't spoken with him but Joe has to demonstrate why he is the best goalkeeper in England every week he plays," the Chilean told reporters.

"He is a very important goalkeeper and I have a lot of trust in him.

"Everyone can make an error in one match but personally I have a lot of trust in Joe Hart."

Manchester City begin their pursuit of a second Premier League title by hosting Newcastle United on Monday.
