Manuel Pellegrini eager to rectify away form

Manuel Pellegrini says that Manchester City must keep up the pressure on their title rivals by improving their form away from home in the Premier League.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has challenged his team to replicate their impressive home form on their travels following Saturday's 6-3 demolition of Arsenal.

The Citizens have recorded eight wins out of eight at the Etihad Stadium this season, scoring 35 goals while conceding a meagre total of five.

However, four defeats away from home mean that they are three points adrift of the Gunners, who top the Premier League table.

The Chilean takes his team to Craven Cottage next weekend as they bid to extend their unbeaten run to six games and keep the pressure on Arsene Wenger's men, who take on fellow title rivals Chelsea next Monday.

"Now we have to do it away from home because we have struggled from the start of the season to perform," Reuters quotes the 60-year-old as saying.

"When we play a big game it is easy to get motivation. Big players will always respond when it is a big game but now we know the title race is open.

"We've come back to three points behind Arsenal and next week they play Chelsea so we have to keep the pressure on."

City's losses came against Cardiff City, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Sunderland.
