Manchester City edge past Hull City

A late Yaya Toure goal adds gloss to Manchester City's 2-0 win over Hull City, despite an uncomfortable afternoon at the Etihad Stadium..

Manchester City have beaten Hull City 2-0 at home in the Premier League.

Goals from Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure were enough for City, despite spirited effort from Hull.

The first 15 minutes of the game could easily have produced three or four goals. Sone Aluko missed an excellent one-on-one opportunity, before Allan McGregor denied Aleksandr Kolarov.

Danny Graham thought that he had given Hull the lead shortly after that, but was denied by the offside flag, before Robert Koren volleyed inches wide.

City improved after that but, despite David Silva finding more and more space around the box, they were unable to really test McGregor before half time.

Hull continued to test their opponents early in the second half, before City finally took control.

Jesus Navas fired wide after Silva's cross before fellow summer signing Negredo gave the hosts the lead, powering a header past McGregor midway through the half.

City were pretty comfortable thereafter and even managed to doubled their lead in the 89th minute of the game when Toure curled in a superb free kick.
