Manchester City are reportedly lining up a £25m bid for Athletic Bilbao star Javi Martinez.
The 23-year-old impressed for the Basque side during their run to the Europa League final last season, in which they beat Manchester United along the way.
Martinez, who can play in both midfield and defence, also captained Spain's Under-21 side to victory in the 2011 European Championship in Denmark.
Manchester United and Barcelona are also believed to have shown an interest in the Spain international, who has made seven senior appearances for his country.
He was part of Vicente Del Bosque's World Cup winning squad in 2010, and will also travel to Poland and Ukraine for the Euro 2012 tournament.
