Daniele De Rossi: 'It would be a tragedy to leave Roma'

Daniele De Rossi reveals that he has no intention of leaving Roma in the near future despite speculation linking him with a move to a number of European clubs.

Italy international Daniele De Rossi has insisted that it would be a "tragedy" if he was to be sold by Roma.

The defensive midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs but claims that he would prefer to remain in the Italian capital for the foreseeable future.

"I was born in Rome and it is the normal thing for me to play for AS Roma," De Rossi told The New York Times. "I've never wanted to wear another jersey, I love this city, I love this club, everything I love is here.

"Me at Manchester City? (Roma president) James Pallotta said I'm not on the market. I have heard rumours about City, PSG and Real Madrid, but I never seriously thought about leaving."

However, De Rossi hinted that he may be open to a move to Major League Soccer.

"If any club wants me for real, they will talk with my agent. But I am 29, and leaving Roma would be a tragedy for me.

"In the future I would like to have an experience in the United States."

The midfielder has represented Italy on 82 occasions.
