Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho is on the verge of signing a new deal with Manchester City, according to a report.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is reportedly on the verge of signing a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazilian international, who is closing in on 200 appearances for the Citizens, will see his current contract expire at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

However, according to The Sun, City boss Pep Guardiola is desperate for the 32-year-old to extend his stay in Manchester, and a fresh deal will soon be announced for a player that has already made seven appearances this season.

Fernandinho joined City from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2013, and has scored 17 times in 190 appearances for the Manchester outfit - winning one Premier League title and two FA Cups in the process.

City will look to continue their impressive start to the 2017-18 campaign when they host Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
