As many as five European clubs are reportedly contemplating whether to make an approach for Barcelona midfielder Nico Gonzalez.

Barcelona midfielder Nico Gonzalez has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for as many as five top European clubs.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a key member of the first-team squad at Camp Nou, making a total of 13 starts and 11 substitute appearances this season.

However, while the academy graduate recently penned a contract until 2024, it is claimed that he continues to have many admirers of his ability.

According to Marca, five clubs from across the continent are monitoring any developments with Nico's contract situation and Barcelona's financial issues.

The report claims that three Premier League teams, including Manchester City, and sides from Serie A and the Bundesliga are interested in signing the playmaker.

Nico would allegedly prefer to remain at the Catalan giants, although much could depend on whether he continues to receive regular game time.
