Kevin De Bruyne eyes "long" Manchester City stay

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne insists that he wants to remain at the club for "a long time".

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has claimed that he wants to remain at the club for "a long time".

The 25-year-old has earned plaudits for his work pulling the strings for City this season, helping them to a 16-game unbeaten run in all competitions, including a club-record 14 consecutive victories.

The Belgian's form has led to links with Barcelona, prompting Pep Guardiola's side to look at improving his current £140,000-a-week deal, which has four years left to run.

"Since Pep came to the club, he plays a style of football I like to play, so it makes it easy as a player," De Bruyne told Sky Sports News.

"I like it here, it is the perfect environment and since I came here there has been a lot of trust in me. I like the project they are doing from the moment I came here.

"There was an older team [when I first arrived], they did a lot of transfers, a lot of young people, they are building for the future.

"I like the project and I am really happy here and I see myself being a long time here."

De Bruyne moved to the Etihad in August 2015 in a £54.5m deal from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
