Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo says that Carlos Tevez's price tag forced them out of a deal for the striker.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has claimed that Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez was too expensive to buy in January.

The Argentina international has been at the centre of a transfer saga since abandoning the North West in November last year.

Despite interest from PSG, AC Milan and Inter Milan, the 28-year-old failed to agree a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

"We did talk figures and we reckoned it was not opportune to make an investment of that amount," The Express quotes Leonardo as saying. "We are not going to pay over the odds. We are not here to beg players to join us."

It is believed that the Premier League side want £25m for the striker.
