A report claims that Neymar is a transfer target for Manchester City, who are prepared to rival Real Madrid in the race to land the unsettled Paris-Saint Germain ace.

Manchester City have reportedly shown an interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar and are prepared to rival Real Madrid for his signature.

The 25-year-old became the world's most expensive player last summer when joining big-spending PSG from Barcelona in a £198m transfer.

Neymar is said to be angling for a move away from the Parc des Princes, though, despite his impressive form since arriving in the French capital six months ago.

Madrid emerged as shock candidates to sign the Brazilian earlier this season and, according to Spanish outlet Marca, Man City - managed by Neymar's former boss Pep Guardiola - are also ready to fight for the superstar forward.

The report suggests that the 83-cap Brazil international has been put off joining Madrid due to their alarming form, and he is excited by the prospect of plying his trade in a different league under Guardiola.

Neymar has 24 goals and 14 assists in 23 matches for PSG since joining at the start of the season.
