Manchester City have reportedly upped their efforts to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Braut Haaland during the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old has a release clause, allegedly in the region of £64m, which will become active at the end of the season, naturally resulting in widespread speculation regarding his future.
An array of top European clubs are expected to make formal approaches for the Norway international, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, according to Sports Illustrated, City intend to rival any bid and have already arranged discussions with Haaland's representatives.
The report claims that the relevant parties are due to hold formal talks on January 23 as they look to determine whether a transfer could take place ahead of 2022-23.
From a personal perspective, Haaland is enjoying another strong season, with 21 goals coming from 18 appearances in all competitions.
