Newcastle United have reportedly moved to the head of the queue for Spanish attacker Jesus Navas.
Navas, 31, is available on a free transfer this summer after leaving Manchester City following the expiration of his contract.
The Spaniard has been strongly linked with a return to former club Sevilla, but it is understood that the two parties are struggling to come to an agreement over wages.
According to The Mirror, the situation with Sevilla has alerted newly-promoted Premier League side Newcastle, who have approached Navas's agent as Magpies boss Rafael Benitez looks to sign a player with experience of winning trophies.
Navas joined Man City from Sevilla in the summer of 2013, and the attacker scored eight times in 183 appearances for the Citizens, winning one Premier League title and two League Cups in the process.
