Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has not confirmed if Yaya Toure will be offered a new contract.
Last week, Toure's agent Dimitri Seluk revealed that the Ivorian wanted to remain at the Etihad Stadium and would like to manage the club once his playing days are complete.
However, Pellegrini refused to be drawn on Toure's position or whether the Blues will offer a new deal and, when responding to Seluk's comments, the Chilean coach suggested that it simply "means that Yaya's very happy here".
He is quoted by the Manchester Evening News as saying: "He's a player who has a lot of criticism this year, always thinking that he wants to go, but what you are telling me is just the opposite.
"He's very happy here. He's an important player for us so we will see what will happen in the future."
Toure has been linked with a transfer to Inter Milan, who are managed by former City boss Roberto Mancini.
