Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini reportedly decides that Aleksandar Kolarov must stay and fight for his place.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly decided that Aleksandar Kolarov has a future under his regime at Eastlands.

Kolarov has been linked with a return to Serie A in recent weeks, with Juventus and Inter Milan both keen on a season-long loan deal.

After allowing Maicon to talk to Roma, the Chilean has decided that Kolarov must stay and fight for first-team football at the Etihad Stadium, according to The Sun.

Pellegrini reportedly sees Kolarov as a useful utility option on the left-hand side, but still views Gael Clichy as his preferred starter at left-back.

The Serbian international joined City for a fee of £19m from Lazio in 2010 and has since made 88 appearances for the club in all competitions.
