Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa backs Roma's Edin Dzeko pursuit

Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa says that Man City hitman Edin Dzeko would enjoy a seamless transition to Italian football if he joins the Giallorossi.

Roma defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has backed the club's pursuit of Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

Speculation has mounted that City slapped a £20m price tag on the 29-year-old, for whom the Giallorossi admitted their affection this week.

With both sides reportedly locked in negotiations, the prospective move has the backing of Yanga-Mbiwa, who says that the Bosnia and Herzegovina international would enjoy a seamless transition to Serie A.

"He's a great player, he has all the qualities to play in Serie A," the former Newcastle United centre-back told reporters.

Dzeko's contract at Eastlands expires in 2018.
