Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has confirmed that the club is hoping to sign Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
It was recently claimed that the 29-year-old had agreed personal terms with the Serie A side ahead of a possible move to the Stadio Olimpico.
Dzeko, who joined City from Wolfsburg for £27m in 2011, scored six goals in 32 appearances last season.
"Dzeko is not very close, but Roma are trying to get him," Sabatini is quoted as saying by Goal.com. "He's the right man for us, but tough to get as he's expensive."
The forward has found the net 42 times in 72 games for Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2007.
