Zidane 'wants Sterling as part of Madrid overhaul'

Zinedine Zidane will reportedly attempt to bring Raheem Sterling to Real Madrid in the summer after being left impressed by the Manchester City attacker's performances.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly keen to snap up Raheem Sterling from Manchester City as part of his summer rebuild.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez persuaded the Frenchman to return to the Bernabeu for a second spell in charge with a £300m transfer war chest.

More than £50m of that has already been spent on recruiting versatile defender Eder Militao from Porto, helping to strengthen Real's leaky backline.

The Spanish giants have also been repeatedly linked with Chelsea forward Eden Hazard, as well as Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen, and The Mirror claims that another Premier League player is now on their radar.

Zidane has previously admitted to being a fan of Sterling, who has scored 21 goals for club and country this season and provided a further 12 assists.

The report indicates that Real have looked at the England international in the past, most recently last summer, and he is the type of player they are after as part of a major squad revamp ahead of next season.
