Jason Roberts: John Terry Euro selection could be "toxic"

Jason Roberts believes John Terry could create a "toxic" atmosphere in England's dressing room at Euro 2012.

Jason Roberts has spoken of a potentially "toxic" atmosphere in England's dressing room at Euro 2012 if John Terry is selected.

Roberts insists that the basis of being innocent until proven otherwise isn't often the case in football, as Rio Ferdinand – brother of victim Anton – found out after missing a drug test in 2003.

"I have seen the Ferdinand case has been put back. On this basis I do not believe that the England captain should go to the Euros," he wrote on Twitter after the defender's trial was put back until after the tournament.

"Innocent until proven guilty is not always the case in football as Rio found out in his case. Also more importantly, believe me, the dressing room at the Euros could be toxic."

England coach Fabio Capello is believed to be eager to take the current England captain to the tournament all the same.
