Danny Welbeck is keen to play alongside Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney while international duty with England.

Danny Welbeck believes that he and Wayne Rooney can continue their clinical partnership for Manchester United this season while on international duty with England.

The front pair, who have scored 14 goals between them for the Red Devils so far this campaign, have both been selected in Fabio Capello's squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier in Montenegro on Friday.

Reports have suggested that Capello is prepared to start 20-year-old Welbeck alongside club teammate Rooney in Podgorica and the United youngster is keen to renew the duo's relationship.

"I don't see any reason why not," Welbeck replied when asked whether he and Rooney could link up at international level.

"Although it's early days we know each others games really well.

"We've been training together for a couple of years now and I'm sure it would work."

Welbeck has also revealed that it is "very beneficial" to be able to call upon Rooney's experiences on a day-to-day basis.

"[Rooney] is a great guy to go to for advice," said the former Sunderland loanee. "He's always talking to you on the pitch and on the training ground. It's very beneficial."

Manchester-born Welbeck has previously earned one England cap, appearing as a substitute against Ghana in March.
