Belgium confirm that the injury sustained by Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is not serious and that he could feature in Sunday's World Cup qualifier.

Belgium have confirmed that Romelu Lukaku did not suffer a fracture or any structural damage to his injured ankle.

The Manchester United striker has been in fine form for his new club so far this season, scoring 11 goals in his opening 10 games for the Red Devils.

The 24-year-old's bright start threatened to be derailed after he picked up an ankle problem on international duty, but after further scans the Belgian national team has confirmed that the damage is not serious.

"Romelu Lukaku underwent an MRI scan but no fracture or structural damage has been diagnosed," read a statement

"The next days he will follow an individual training program. It is however too early to state that he won't be match fit for the Bosnia and/or Cyprus game."

Belgium's first qualifier of the international break does not come until Sunday, when they take on Bosnia.
