Christian Eriksen could make his return for Manchester United in Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has said that Christian Eriksen could make his return for the Red Devils in Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton.

The Denmark international has been on the sidelines since the end of January with the ankle injury that he suffered against Championship side Reading in the FA Cup.

However, Eriksen has made strong progress in his recovery over the last few weeks, and he made his return to first-team training on Thursday.

Man United's boss has revealed that the experienced midfielder will be monitored over the next couple of days before a decision is made on his possible involvement in the squad against Everton.

"We will see. We see it from day to day," Ten Hag told Viaplay when asked whether Eriksen could be available for selection against the Toffees.

"He is progressing. He is now back only this week in team training tomorrow [Thursday] and the day after tomorrow [Friday]. We have two sessions. After that, we will decide if he is back in the squad again."

Eriksen was in strong form for Man United before his injury, featuring on 31 occasions in all competitions, contributing two goals and nine assists in the process.

The 31-year-old's return would be timely considering that Casemiro will again be suspended against Everton, as he serves the final game of his four-match suspension for his red card against Southampton.

Eriksen has scored one goal and registered seven assists in 19 Premier League appearances this term.

The Dane was again absent for Wednesday's contest with Brentford, which Man United won 1-0 courtesy of a first-half effort from Marcus Rashford.

The result moved Ten Hag's side into fourth position in the Premier League table, three points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand.

Man United have another seven games this month, facing Everton, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Aston Villa in the league, in addition to both legs of their Europa League quarter-final with Sevilla and FA Cup semi-final with Brighton & Hove Albion.
