Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is pictured wearing a protective medical cast on his wrist ahead of Monday's clash against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been pictured wearing a protective medical cast on his wrist, with the attacker battling to be available for Monday's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag said during his press conference on Thursday that Fernandes was a doubt for the match at Selhurst Park due to a minor issue.

On Friday morning, the Manchester Evening News pictured Fernandes leaving a coffee shop wearing a protective medical cast on his right wrist.

However, it is unclear at this stage whether Ten Hag was referring to a wrist injury or a separate issue when he discussed his skipper during the pre-Palace press conference.

"After the game (vs. Burnley) we had an issue with Bruno so he is a doubt for Monday, but he will fight to be a part of this game, as we know with Bruno," Ten Hag told reporters. "Never rule him out for any game and he is giving his best to be available."

Fernandes has never missed a Man United game through injury, and it would not be a surprise to see him in the XI against Palace despite being a fitness concern at this stage.

The midfielder has been in strong form for the Red Devils this season, scoring 15 goals and registering 11 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

Fernandes has seven goals and two assists in his last eight Premier League appearances, with the Portuguese in terrific form heading towards the end of the campaign.

The attacker recently refused to rule out a summer move away from Man United, though, amid claims that the club would be willing to listen to substantial offers for him at the end of the campaign.

Man United are still missing a number of players through injury

Fernandes could yet prove his fitness for the clash against Palace, while Scott McTominay is due to train on Saturday and might be in the squad after overcoming a minor knee issue.

Jonny Evans also has a chance of being included, having made his return to training on Thursday, but Anthony Martial was only part-involved in the session.

Marcus Rashford is also still out with the problem that he suffered during the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City last month.

Meanwhile, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Willy Kambwala remain on the sidelines for the 20-time English champions.

Ten Hag's side, who can no longer qualify for next season's Champions League, are currently sixth in the Premier League table, six points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
