Paul Pogba is working closely with Manchester United first-team coach Michael Carrick on the training ground as he nears a return to full fitness, according to a report.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly undergoing individual training sessions with first-team coach Michael Carrick as he steps up his bid to regain fitness.

The France international's 2019-20 campaign has been plagued by injury setbacks and speculation over his Old Trafford future.

Pogba has featured just eight times in all competitions this term and not at all since Boxing Day due to an ankle issue.

According to The Athletic, the 27-year-old is now being personally trained by Carrick in the hope of getting him fully up to speed in time for the Premier League's return, which is still at least three weeks away.

Carrick is said to be focusing on ball work and optimising Pogba's mobility, with his right ankle still yet to be tested with full contact.

Meanwhile, Pogba is rumoured to be determined to leave United this summer, with Real Madrid and Juventus interested.
