Robin van Persie carrying knock, Daley Blind doubtful for FA Cup tie

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal reveals that Robin van Persie could miss Monday's FA Cup tie against Preston due to a knock, while Daley Blind is also a doubt.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that Robin van Persie may miss Monday night's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Preston North End due to injury.

The Dutch striker, who scored a penalty in Wednesday night's 3-1 victory over Burnley, is carrying a knock, while Phil Jones and Daley Blind are also unlikely to feature.

The duo were substituted with injuries in the game at Old Trafford, but Van Gaal is yet to be given a definitive diagnosis from the club's medical staff.

"I think Jones shall be difficult to play on Monday," Van Gaal said in this afternoon's press conference. "Blind, I don't know, we have to wait and see how he recovers.

"Robin van Persie also has something, so now I have given the players a day off. Only the injured players have visited our centre, but the doctor has not called me yet so I cannot say anything."

United reached the fifth round of the competition following a 3-0 win over Cambridge United in a fourth-round replay last Tuesday.
