Finnish surgeon Sakari Orava reveals that a decision will be made next week as to whether to operate on injured Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Manchester United are awaiting a decision as to whether star midfielder Paul Pogba will require an operation on his injured hamstring.

The France international has been absent since pulling up in the first half of the 3-0 win over Basel in the Champions League on September 12.

Manager Jose Mourinho has repeatedly stressed that there is no timeline for Pogba's comeback due to the complexity of the injury, but he is expected to miss at least another month.

According to Finnish surgeon Sakari Orava, however, the 24-year-old could now be out for even longer as the damage may require surgery to rectify.

Orava, who recently operated on Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele, told HS: "His injury is a little different to Dembele because he can heal without surgery, but a decision will be taken next week.

"This kind of problem is usually a sum of many coincidences and is affected by muscle fatigue as well as rapid stopping and quick turning, with the brain going quicker than the feet."

Pogba, who has already missed matches against Everton, Burton Albion and Southampton in league and cup, has reportedly been told to go on holiday during the upcoming international break.
