Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester United could line up for Wednesday's friendly clash with Real Madrid.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana could make his Manchester United debut in Wednesday's pre-season friendly against Real Madrid at NRG Stadium in Texas.

The 27-year-old completed his £47.2m transfer from Inter Milan last week before joining up with Erik ten Hag's first-team squad in the USA, and the shot-stopper could be in line for his first Red Devils appearance between the sticks at the expense of Tom Heaton.

Ten Hag named a relatively strong starting lineup for the 2-0 friendly win over Arsenal last weekend, with newly-appointed captain Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho both on the scoresheet and hoping to retain their places in the final third on Thursday.

Summer signing Mason Mount has started in all three of Man United's pre-season matches since joining from Chelsea, and he could be joined in the middle of the pitch by former Real Madrid lynchpin Casemiro, which could therefore see highly-rated youngster Kobbie Mainoo make way from the first XI.

Last season's top scorer Marcus Rashford returned to the matchday squad last weekend following an extended break and came on for the second half against Arsenal; the England international may be recalled to the starting lineup at the expense of either Alejandro Garnacho or Antony, with Sancho moving across from a centre-forward role to either flank.

Another ex-Real Madrid man in Raphael Varane is in contention to feature, and the Frenchman could keep his place at centre-back alongside Lisandro Martinez, with Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire providing cover as substitutes.

Ten Hag is set to be without the services of midfielder Fred, who is yet to feature in pre-season due to a personal issue, while Tyrell Malacia is ruled out with a thigh injury, so Luke Shaw is expected to continue at left-back.

Meanwhile, Anthony Martial is scheduled to return to full pre-season training ahead of Thursday's contest after a spell out with a hamstring injury, but it remains to be seen whether he will play any part against Real Madrid, while Amad Diallo is also doubtful but has played down concerns about an ankle problem picked up against Arsenal.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mount; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford
