Co Adriaanse slams Memphis Depay attitude

Former Ajax and FC Twente coach Co Adriaanse tells Memphis Depay that he must focus on his football at Manchester United.

Former Ajax and FC Twente coach Co Adriaanse has told Memphis Depay that he must concentrate on his football at Manchester United rather than his fashion sense.

The Dutch winger has struggled to find his best form since joining United from PSV Eindhoven in the summer, while he has also come under fire after being part of the Netherlands side that failed to qualify for Euro 2016.

Adriaanse has said that Depay must improve his attitude and behaviour if he is to succeed at the highest level.

"He needs to be corrected. He must realise that he is a member in a football team, that he is not just an individual, a 100 metre sprinter like Usain Bolt," Adriaanse told Studio Voetbal.

"He arrived as a Peruvian pan flute player at Huis ter Duin (the Netherlands team hotel). If you are a young boy and still have not done anything, do not play dress up as you report to the coach. [Cristiano] Ronaldo does that, but at least he is proven.

"He does not even talk to the press, which he ignores. That cannot be the way. He represents us, the Dutch people. And we want to know what he thinks. He should always speak to them, and must be corrected."

Depay has scored just once in eight Premier League appearances for United.
