FC Twente have insisted that Steve McClaren is just one the contenders to become the club's new coach.
The Dutch outfit are looking for a new manager following their decision to sack Co Adriaanse earlier today.
McClaren has been widely tipped to take over the Reds for a second time, but chairman Joop Munsterman has asked for caution.
"[McClaren's] appointment is still uncertain, as we will hold discussions in the next few days," Munsterman told a press conference. "We have a list of three candidates, two of whom are Dutch."
McClaren has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest in October.
