Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claims that Ryan Giggs defies age as he approaches his 900th appearance for the club.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that Ryan Giggs defies age as he approaches his 900th appearance for the club.

The 37-year-old has gone on to play nearly 150 more games for United after breaking Sir Bobby Charlton's appearance record during the 2008 Champions League final against Chelsea.

"It is my personal view, and not everyone will agree with me because we all have our favourites, that even if you take away the longevity, being in the Premier League for as long as he has, achieving what he has - no other player will do it," Ferguson told BBC Sport.

"It is amazing really. If you go back to Moscow, you are talking almost another 150 games further on.

"He keeps defying age. This season he has just been the same as he was back in Moscow. There is nothing changed from his performance level then as it is today."

Giggs is expected to reach his milestone when United host Ajax in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie at Old Trafford on Thursday.
