AS Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim has claimed that he is not in the least bit surprised to see his former protege Anthony Martial enjoy a rip-roaring start to life in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old striker joined Manchester United on deadline day in a £36m deal that saw him become the most expensive teenager in history.
Martial has already netted four times for the Red Devils, three of which came in England's top flight, and Jardim knew that such a goal-laden beginning was on the cards.
"We worked with Anthony Martial on his physical and mental attributes. I'm not surprised by his performances," he told reporters ahead of Monaco's visit of Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League.
"We work hard to make sure our young players reach the top European level."
Martial has started six games in all competitions for the Red Devils.
