Jose Mourinho: 'The best is yet to come from me'

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists that the best is yet to come in his managerial career.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that the best is yet to come from him in his managerial career.

The 53-year-old has enjoyed a trophy-laden 16-year career in the dugout so far, winning eight league titles in four different countries in addition to a host of other honours.

However, having signed a three-year contract at Old Trafford the Portuguese boss is still a long way from calling time on his career and believes that he could go on for at least another 15 years.

"This is like the top of my career, but it comes in the early stage of my career, because as a manager I am really young," he told Sky Sports News.

"I think I have the best years of my career to come up. Fifty-three plus 15 is 68, so I would say 14, 15, 16 more years. I don't see myself going home before 70.

"Sometimes memory in football is short and people forget what you did, so sometimes the only solution is to keep repeating until the end. You have some numbers you want to repeat but statistics don't win matches, the effort of the players and the work we do during the season before the match is what wins matches."

Mourinho has never spent longer than three years and two months at a single club.
